It’s like Christmas morning in April…and on tax day no less, but FINALLY Mike Huckabee is back as the visible face and leader of the conservative movement that took the nation by storm during the GOP primaries.
We have all felt this election season, as conservatives, and as social conservatives in particular, the deep sense of disconnect between us and those who were supposed to be our leaders, both in the secular and religious realms.
As a presidential candidate Mike represented reality, our reality. He loved God, his country and his fellow man and put the principles of self governance and the golden rule, before the expediency of politics time and time again. We learned so much from him about how to walk this walk, and still his testimony shines out in his words and actions post race 08.
We know he’s not perfect, and we are not so foolish as to lift him up as an ‘idol,’ but we do see in him, someone with the experience, the interpersonal skills and now, the name recognition to do what needed to be done:
Harness the energies of thousands of frustrated Americans who feel disenfranchised by a political system that works around them instead of with them. And so Huck PAC is born
I don’t know what the future holds for Mike and this political action committe, but I do know that it will only become what we make it. We can’t ALL be leaders, which means that we will have to trust the vision of the one we chose by default to be our leader, and try to avoid the second guessing that could rip our efforts apart.
There will be power in our unity, but divided against ourselves, we will not stand.
The time to buy in is now, but if we buy in it has to be 100 percent. If we have reservations and want to support one candidate, but not another, if we want to dicatate that money go here, but not there, we negate the trust that we placed in Mike when we encouraged him to take this step on our behalf in the first place.
If Mike Huckabee is the man that he’s proven himself to be, if he continues to exercise the good judgement that he has shown thus far, there should be no hesitation in our willingness to support the causes he champions from here on out. Of course we will use our own judgement as the ultimate final criterion, but it will feel good again to race as part of a team that has a lead dog. (And one with lots of fight at that!)
I look forward to many more exciting months of working with Mike to turn Washington on its head come November. How will we do it? In Mike’s own words:
We are committed to supporting Republican candidates who are passionate advocates for tax reform, a strong national defense, real border security, life, the family, less government and individual liberty.
We will identify candidates who hold firm to these principles, promote their campaigns and financially support their efforts.
See you on the trail!
His Handmaiden

I see that the former Governor, who made his money while IN office, just made Judicial Watch’s top 10 list of most corrupt politicians. His ranking as the 6th most corrupt politician beat out Obama (#8) and Pelosi (#9). If people really knew about the Ethics complaints, campaign cash, destruction of computer files, etc. Must be something in the water in Arkansas. Huckabee was no better than the Clintons.
Why don’t you tell us about the facts …Since you seem to know the facts…The state of Arkansas is a much better place to live now than when Bill Clinton was governor.
I know we can trust Mike with our money and our support. He has proven to be responsible with our money and will have much better connections on picking the right candidates to support. I believe I can vote for McCain as long as he doesn’t have Romney on the ticket with him. But, my vote won’t matter in the general election anyway because I live in the very blue state of Obamaland (Illinois)
If Romney is on the ticket; I’ll probably write in “none of the above” to make my statement. Who knows; I might be able to get disgruntled Dems to join the “write in campaign.”
I was very impressed with Mike Huckabee throughout his campaign — even well before he “caught fire.” He won the GOP primary here in my home state of Georgia, but I was fairly certain that he probably would not have the juice to go the distance in this election year. Unfortunately, I was right.
However, Huckabee’s inability to do this was not so much attributable to any particular shortcomings of his campaign, but rather more to an awful confluence of events. I believe that the national GOP establishment was determined this time to have a nominee that would be a Rockefeller-style Republican — arguably conservative on fiscal issues, but little else (in the modern conservative vernacular: a “RINO,” a Republican In Name Only.
I believe that they deliberately did what they could, working with state GOP chairs to facilitate a heavily front-loaded primary season with “winner take all” northeastern states in the early running because they knew this would be more likely to favor their desired outcome. Originally, they probably thought their 2008 RINO might be Giuliani. It wound up being McCain, the King of the RINOs — the one candidate who is absolute anathema to constitutional conservatives like me.
Once Fred Thompson took just enough votes away from Huckabee in SC to hand that state to McCain and once Romney got screwed in FL, my suspicions were confirmed. With McCain, the Republican Party has clearly turned its back not only on the social conservatives, but on the constitutional conservatives as well. By the way, speaking of SC, if McCain ever slams on brakes, they’re going to have to get a proctologist to surgically extract Lindsey Graham’s head.
I have consistently voted GOP for about 30 years now, but not this time. I am a conservative first and a Republican second. I am somewhat socially conservative, but not to a fault — meaning I believe it is neither appropriate nor desirable to attempt to legislate morality. I am, of course, fiscally conservative. Most importantly of all, though, I am constitutionally conservative. It is primarily for this reason that I cannot in good conscience support McCain’s candidacy under any circumstances.
McCain has screwed conservatives too many times and has displayed contempt for the U.S. Constitution with McCain-Feingold and the Gang of 14 — the two most egregious of his transgressions in my view. I adamantly refuse to hold my nose, to vote for the “lesser of two evils,” to bend over and grab my ankles for that arrogant prick like many of my fellow conservatives seem willing to do. I, for one, will not simply stand by and allow the national GOP establishment to urinate down my back and try to tell me that it’s merely raining. It is largely irrelevant who McCain might pick as a running mate because it is McCain himself who is unacceptable.
So, unless Bob Barr wins the Libertarian Party nomination, it appears that true conservatives will not have a dog in the fight this time. If Barr does win the LP nomination, then I will vote their ticket for POTUS and VPOTUS while possibly still voting GOP only in the down-ballot contests. Otherwise, I’d just as soon the Democrats take it this time and make a horrible mess of things for the next four years (as they most assuredly will). That way, they will take the blame in 2012. By then, hopefully the GOP will have had an epiphany and realize that you can’t win by largely abandoning conservative principles and being the “lite beer” version of the opposition. I believe McCain will lose, and that it will be a blessing if he does.

Ken,
I gave you the facts, you gave opinion. The fact is that Judicial Watch listed Huckabee as the 6th most corrupt politician in 2007. Go to judicialwatch.org and check the FACTS for yourself.
Another fact: Huckabee is too soft on crime. He granted 1,033 pardons or communtations which was twice the number of his three predecessors COMBINED! Those inlvoved said Huckabee pressured them to release convicted rapist Wayne Dumond who subsequently MURDERED a woman. Ask that woman’s family how they feel about Huckabee.
Investigate the FACTS relating to the 14 Ethics complaints filed against him and how he destroyed computer files as he left office. I just can’t stand politicians who get rich from their political office.
Of course, none of these FACTS matter to evangelicals as he was a great evangelical preacher.
Fortunately, nobody except fellow evangelicals take Huckabee seriously. If they did, more such facts would come to light.
Bob Barr??
Before conservatives flock to the Libertarian Party, check out Bob Barr’s biography on Wkipedia (or anywhere else) and see if he really has the character social conservatives are looking for.
Bags,
Why is it the only ones that said Huckabee “pressured” the parole board to parole Dumand the disgruntled former employees? They sure had their message heard loud and clear despite the fact the other parole board members said Huckabee didn’t pressure them to do anything. Maybe the old saying is true. “If you say it often enough; people will believe it.”
Dumond should have never had his sentence fixed to allow him to be paroled. (which was done by the previous Gov. NOT Huckabee!)
I hope HuckPAC succeeds in it’s mission
Good for Huck. Can’t wait to see him when he comes to New York next week.

Great vision on Huckabee’s part; he just spoke on CNN with Campbell Brown and said he will campaign with McCain beginning next week.
I am sooooo glad Mike is back!
Praise God for Mike.
